单集文稿 ...

  • Hi there.

  • This is Harry, and welcome back to my english podcast, where I try to help you with your understanding and fluency in the english language.

  • So what do I have for you now?

  • Well, previously we looked at some adjectives where we added a suffix that's a two letters en suffix onto the end of the adjectives, and we turn them into verbs.

  • Now we're going to look at en but as a prefix meaning in front of the word, the adjective.

  • And again, we're going to turn it into a verb.

  • Okay, so the ones we have for you today are danger, trust, courage and force.

  • And on each of them, I'm going to add en.

  • So first one, danger.

  • Add the en.

  • To endanger somebody or to endanger yourself means to put yourself at risk, to put yourself in harm's way.

  • We might often say, okay, do not endanger the children by driving the car when you have been drinking.

  • Okay?

  • So very, very good advice.

  • If you're going to drive the car, you should not be drinking at all.

  • And don't endanger the people who are in the car with you by taking that risk.

  • Okay, so danger.

  • End danger.

  • Yeah.

  • We can have an endangered species of animals, and we're all talking these days about climate control, the pollution, the global warming, and the effect on the planet and on the plants and the animals.
