  And as always, we're going to take some english sentences and explain the grammar that we've used in those sentences, which will be hopefully useful for those of you who are studying English up to and around the intermediate level.

  As always, I'm going to read the sentence twice and then explain to you the particular grammar points applicable in that particular sentence, and hopefully you'll be able to get a better understanding of how to use this yourself.

  The particular sentence I'm going to use now is referring to the conditional tenses and in particular, the third conditional.

  There are a number of conditionals.

  There's zero conditional, the first conditional, second conditional, and then third conditional, this sentence, and you can also have mixed conditionals, but we'll look at those again in other sentences.

  Okay, so as I said, I'm going to read it twice.

  And here's the first reading.

  If he hadn't driven his car so.

  Fast, he wouldn't have crashed it.

  Second reading, if he hadn't driven his.

  Car so fast, he wouldn't have crashed it.

  Okay, as I said, this is third conditional, and third conditional is always referring to some event in the past, but it's an event in the past that cannot change.

  Yeah, because it's happened and you can't change it.

  So here we're saying if he hadn't driven his car so fast, the problem is he did drive his car very fast.

  If he hadn't driven his car so.

  Fast, he wouldn't have crashed it.

  But the fact is he did drive.

  His car too quickly and he did crash it.
