Nigel and I have met many brilliant philosophers since launching philosophy bytes over the past couple of years.
We've sprung a question on our interviewees.
Who is the most impressive philosopher they've met?
Here are their answers.
Hi, this is Tim Bain.
I'm a professor of philosophy at the University of Manchester.
Tim Bain, who's the most impressive philosopher you've ever met?
Philosopher that's been most impressive.
Who I've met and who has certainly had the greatest impact on my development is my PhD supervisor, David Chalmers.
He has a wonderful ability to come into a debate and see the conceptual structure of that debate and to present it extremely clearly.
So one has the sense immediately on reading his work of what's going on.
And that's just a wonderful ability and very impressive.
Hi, I'm Chris Bertram.
I'm professor of social and political philosophy at the University of Bristol.
Chris, I wonder if you could tell me who's the most impressive philosopher you've ever met and why.
The most impressive philosopher I've ever met was certainly the late Jerry Cohen.
So Jerry had an amazingly crisp analytic mind.
