Hi, Angela and Mike, what is the clinical difference between empathy and sympathy?
I understand the various semantic arguments and opinions about the differences, but I'm looking for whether there are any established definitions within the scientific community and whether there's research on differentiating between empathy and sympathy.
Typically, sympathy gets a bad rap, as if it's just empathy done selfishly.
Are they really that different from each other?
