This is Chrysalis part ten.
Under the light of Zenvia's only son, the imperium palace gleamed like a beacon, like a massive jewel, its polished outer walls reflecting the light of day and washing the gardens around the grand building in soft greens and blues.
Breathtaking.
But today the gemstone appearance of the palace reminded me of fragility instead of strength.
My pilot and I had arrived at Zunvir a whole two days before, but the local military had refused to let the strange ship the Terran had built us land there.
We were diverted to one of the orbital defense stations and interrogated separately, repeatedly.
With every passing minute, we squandered opportunities to gather information on the Terran's origins and intentions.
I returned to a different zunvir than the one I had left behind with Nakhstani.
Everyone here was scared, shell shocked, tense.
After the destruction of Yovid, the republic hadn't been able to keep the nature of the Terran's menace a secret.
And to make matters worse, the tense conversation between the council and the Terran in orbit over Anakax Favan had also leaked.
