Hi Everybody.
My name is Shawna, and this is the american English podcast.
My goal here is to teach you the English spoken in the United States through common expressions, pronunciation tips, and interesting cultural snippets or stories.
I hope to keep this fun, useful, and interesting.
Let's do it.
Ago, a listener named Sophie from France wrote to me.
She told me that she was going to be visiting Asheville with her family and that she'd like to meet up.
So we did.
She took my daughters and me out for ice cream, and we talked a lot about food.
During our conversation, it was obvious Sophie and her husband are foodies.
Do you know what a foodie is?
It's someone who is passionate about food.
They're open to exploring new cuisines and trying new ingredients.
Foodie is sort of the opposite of a picky eater, someone who's more selective about what they eat in general.
That means that these two, and actually their whole family, were pretty open minded.
