He earned a reputation for being passionate about the law, for being tough and smart, and at times, brash and unconventional.
He seized any opportunity to expose what he felt was wrongdoing by the government, especially leveraging any missteps by the police or prosecutors.
But he had ambitions beyond being a mouthpiece for the mob, as he was often called.
He wanted to be mayor of Las Vegas.
However, before he was sworn in in June 1999, Oscar faced one last courtroom battle.
