There's a jingle for pretty much everything in Japan, from electronic stores to giant discount stores and curry brands.
I have hundreds of jingles living rent free in my head.
They're just so catchy and impossible to escape.
Sometimes I'll hear over a dozen a day just riding the train because every station in Tokyo has its own special jingle.
We live in a nation that loves mascots and jingles.
So when we applied at Sakura Sachiko Detective school and actually got in, we shouldn't have been surprised per se that they sent us a cd of their jingle along with other introductory materials.
But I was surprised, delightfully so.
It also had the lyrics written out.
Sagura sat and heres the best part.
We found out that the jingle is on karaoke and theres a music video for it.
The lead is Detective Sakura Sachiko, a glamorous middle aged lady in a sequined hot pink jacket.
Shes dancing one moment, then lurking behind an unsuspecting cheating couple in the next.
This is one of those moments when a podcast cant quite capture the campy magic.
Infidelity, tailing, background checks, misconduct, corporate investigations, accidents, surveillance.
These are just some of the cases detective agencies get called in for.
After we found out Morimoto was on sugar daddy sites, we actually made some accounts to try and find him, but we got no bites.
So we decided to be a little more proactive about things.
What if we learned how to track people from actual pros at detective school?
And after hearing the jingle, I was sold.
