Officials there are holding him responsible for crimes they say his company is committed, including money laundering and conducting financial services without a license.
But how did we get here?
Experts agree that the answer to that question has really very little to do with Tigran Gambarian or even the cryptocurrency exchange he works for, and it has everything to do with Nigeria and its longstanding economic problems.
So to put the binance story in context, we wanted to provide some history which makes clear that Nigerias troubles have little to do with binance at all.
