Alright, so now let's get to our show.
Hi, I'm David Bark Hurtley, author of the book Save Me Please and Other Stories.
And welcome to episode 579 of Geek's Guide to the Galaxy.
Our guest today is Malcolm Collins, co host of the Basecamp podcast, in which Malcolm and his wife Simone provide contrarian takes on a wide range of topics.
Malcolm and Simon have also written five books, including the Pragmatist's Guide to Governance and the Pragmatist's Guide to Crafting Religion.
And they're both leading figures in the Pronatalist movement which encourages families to have more children in hopes of averting a future scenario called demographic collapse, in which the global population falls at a rapid rate, causing extreme societal disruption.
And in this interview we'll be discussing the idea of demographic collapse and talking about some of the ways that artificial intelligence and genetic engineering might make it better or worse.
And now here's an interview with Malcolm Collins.
All right, so we're here with Malcolm Collins.
Welcome to the show.
Hello.
I am excited to be here today.
Okay, so first of all, just how.
Big of a science fiction fan are you?
If you're asking how much of a connection do I still have to reality?
Tentative.
Tentative.
The science fiction has warped my brain and now I believe that we are dealing with short timelines and everything's about to change in major ways.
