In Comfort Eating, the podcast and accompanying book of the same name, Grace Dent – one of the UK's best-loved food writers – throws open her kitchen cupboards to reveal why we hold these secret snacks, naughty nibbles and hand-me-down recipes so dear to our hearts. She was joined live onstage at London's Union Chapel recently by comedian and host of the The Guilty Feminist podcast, Deborah Frances-White, to discuss the deep connections between food, memory, love and life. This is the second instalment of a three-part episode. Welcome to Intelligence Squared, where great minds meet.
I'm head of Programming Connor Boyle for this episode.
We're rejoining for part two of our conversation with writer, author and broadcaster Grace Dent.
As one of the UK's best loved.
Food writers, the host of the Comfort Eating podcast and the author of the book of the same name was live on stage recently at London's Union Chapel to talk about the special place of food in all their lives.
Joining her on stage to discuss it was the comedian and host of the guilty Feminist podcast, Deborah Frances White.

I would explain that on Comfort eating, if you haven't listened to it, that every week the celeb comes in and they bring their snack and I don't know what it is at all.
I have absolutely.
And we have to go to great lengths for me to not know because I'm very nosy and it happens in.
The podcast, happens in my house.
That causes an enormous amount of stress as it is because I'm a northern working class woman.
So everything has to be absolutely clean before the celeb comes around.
Which means that Richard E.
Grant is arriving and I'm basically putting dirty dishes into the back of my car and taking, you know, and like taking, taking pants off radiators and like hiding things.
But the other thing is they bring their snack.
