Good evening and welcome to the Sleepy Bookshelf, where we put down our worries from the day and pick up a good book.
I'm your host, Elizabeth.
Thank you for coming tonight.
This evening we are returning to Treasure island, but before that, let's take some time to unwind.
Take a deep breath in and a long slow exhale.
Gently close your eyes and take another nice big inhale before slowly breathing out again and feeling your body relax.
Keep breathing deeply and on your next exhale, allow yourself to really arrive into your body, into this moment and into your breath, trying to shift your focus away from any thoughts from the day and be present where you are now.
Find a more natural breath for you and just be leave behind any stresses from today, any thoughts or worries about what needs to be done tomorrow, and gift yourself this time to relax while I recap our last episode.
Jim was hiding in the apple barrel undetected and he overheard Long John Silver speaking to the youngest hand on board, Dick.
He wowed him with stories of Captain England and Captain Flint, the famous pirates, before revealing a mutinous plan for the Hispaniola.
Israel Hands soon joined them, eager to overthrow the honest men already, but Silver explained they would allow Smollett to sail them to the island, follow Trelawney's orders of where to find the treasure, even have Smollett sail them halfway home before flipping the tables.
He voted death for them all and intended to live an honest life on return to England.
