  • Hi there, this is Harry.

  • Welcome back to Advanced English Lessons with Harry where I try to help you to get a better understanding of the English language, to help you with your conversational skills, your business English skills, interview skills, whatever your goals are, we're here to help.

  • And for those of you and your friends or family who want one to one lessons, well, you know what to do.

  • Just get in touch www.englishlessonvia skype.com and you can apply for a free trial lesson.

  • And we'd be very happy to hear from you and very happy to help you.

  • So this is an advanced English lesson and in this advanced English lesson we're going to look at vocabulary specifically related to your free time and leisure.

  • And a lot of these words and phrases and expressions are really great for those proficiency exams that you might be doing, particularly if the examiner asks you to talk about your leisure time or your free time.

  • And you might want to use some of these words or know how to start a conversation or indeed, if you're writing an essay relating to leisure or free time, well, of course you can include these adjectives and nouns and other expressions that you'll get in this particular lesson.

  • Okay, let's get started.

  • So you know yourself and sometimes you know and very well the English about your own profession, whether it's it or medicine or economics, whatever it might be.

  • And you don't usually have any problems talking about that.

  • But when students come to me at first, I always hear that they have problems getting started in social conversations, ordinary conversational English, particularly where they want to talk about the weekend.

  • And this is often a topic that people use to break ice before and after a meeting.

  • So they could be asking you about the weekend that's coming.

  • They could be asking you about the weekend that's just been.

  • So they'd be asking you what did you do for the weekend?

  • What are you going to do this weekend?

  • Or another very useful expression is are you getting up to anything this weekend?

  • Or what did you get up to last weekend?

  • So it's a really useful expression.
