单集简介 ...

Today our friend Yane joins us to chat about our personal thoughts on Asian American Identity. We wonder about what compels us to microcategorize ourselves within the community (ex. Raver Asians, Valorant Asians, etc.). We chat about how cultural context can change the way we view things like cultural representation.Support the showFollow us on social media @eatyourcrustpod

  • Hi.

  • Welcome back to Eat yout Crust podcast.

  • I'm Crystal.

  • I'm Jisoo.

  • And I'm Yin.

  • So welcome back.

  • Yayne.

  • You might recognize her voice from past episodes that we've done.

  • And I think the most recent one was episode 156, modeling and photo Shoots.

  • So go check that out if you want to hear about Yin's experience being a model and doing photo shoots in the community.

  • Today we have on Yain for a very interesting topic, which is the Asian American identity.

  • As big of a topic as this is, I feel like there have been various ways that Asian American identities have been represented, whether it's through specific celebrity archetypes or even those mass videos where people would actually go in and dissect these microcategories.

  • I also want to say before we dive into this topic, this is obviously a topic that has been heavily discussed outside of even just our podcast, and it's a complex one.

  • It's not easy to really draw lines when we talk about the Asian American identity, especially since there's so many different communities and groups within the big community of Asian American.

  • So just want to put it out there that we're going to be discussing our personal thoughts, our personal viewpoints and our feelings.

  • And we are imperfect people.

  • So just know that before we dive into this episode.

  • Let's start this off by talking about the evolution of the Asian identity.

  • How do you think this way of representing us or identifying has evolved over the years?

  • First of all, go Asians.
