27 分钟It's been practically impossible to move for the last two weeks without being told about 'the vibe shift'. We've all heard its coming, but what does it even mean? This week on The Sleepover Club Ione and Halima are discussing the viral essay by Allison P. Davis titled ‘A Vibe Shift Is Coming. Will any of us survive it?’ for The Cut. The changing course of culture is inevitable, but with so much of our lives being played out online, can huge cultural swathes really effect the majority of us? How does a vibe change when so many of us exist in tiny online micro-communities? Historically, we've swayed between ultra-political and entirely apathetic, with the overwhelming mood being that our current vibe shift will see an end to political-everything and the embracing of irony and having fun. But can't we do both? Can't we be happy, socially aware, and enjoy our lives while fighting for the things we believe in? What can the vibe shift tell us about feminism? Is the vibe shift a patriarchal tool? Only time will tell. Want to support the podcast? If you're a brand or organisation that could help us continue the show, Please fill in this form.
