And a very good morning to you.
We're live in London and you're with Monocle on Sunday with me, Emma Nelson.
Coming up today here at Midori House, my guests Nina Dos Santos and Isabel Hilton share their views on the week's biggest stories.
Very good morning to you both.
Nina, what have you spotted?
Good morning.
I'm really interested in Keir Starmer heading over to Italy to meet Giorgia Meloni on Monday.
All of this, even though they're from different sides of the political spectrum, I think basically he's trying to learn from her immigration policies and see if anything can work in the uk.
Thank you for that, Nina.
And how about you, Isabelle, Fresh off a plane from Taipei?
Indeed, yes.
And so not surprisingly, my gaze has been directed rather further east.
So I'm interested in some fresh maneuvers around the Marine, kind of the slow motion Marine war that's going on in that part of the world.
So East China Sea, Nikkei has reported that the Chinese have set up a new institute to study Okinawa and are questioning Japan's sovereignty.
Thank you very much indeed for that.
We'll also hear from Monocle's Istanbul correspondent with the latest headlines.
I'm Hannah Lucinda Smith.
And coming up later, I'll be bringing you the news from Turkey, including Ankara's application to the brics block, why thousands of dead fish are washing up in the Bay of Izm and how a religious minority is finally having their places of worship recognized.
Plus Monocle's editorial director, Tyler Brulee will join us on the line from Stockholm today.
It's the 15th of September, 2024.
