Hello and welcome to the Entrepreneurs on Monocle Radio.
The show all about inspiring people, innovative companies and fresh ideas in global business.
Today's program is all about fresh approaches to entertainment.
First, we'll hear about New York City's only high performance TV and film production facility from the visionary developer behind the project.
We wanted to think through how to support creatives in this wonderful enterprise of storytelling.
We as creatives do better work in spaces that elevate us.
Plus we head to an upstart summer festival right here in London that also foregrounds culture and community.
Providing that opportunity for emerging artists who are super talented is a really special thing.
It's very fulfilling.
I think a lot of the work we do has always been driven by building community and trying to foster this sense of togetherness.
This is the Entrepreneurs with me, Tom Edwards.
You're listening to the Entrepreneurs.
We start today's show with Adam Gordon, the co founder of Wildflower Studios, a vertical media production facility in New York which he developed alongside film industry veteran Robert De Niro and designed by architecture firm Bjarke Engels Group.
Gordon built his career over decades identifying and capitalizing on emerging real estate strategies.
And while Flower Studios.
Well, this new facility provides state of the art soundstages, tools and technologies to produce film, tv, games and other digital media from pre through post production, all under one roof.
In addition to production spaces, the 800,000 square foot campus features a world class food program, waterfront park and amenity spaces.
Adam spoke to me from his base in Northern California on the very day that Wildflower bloomed in NYC earlier this summer to tell me how his vision to deliver a comprehensive 21st century tool for storytellers in New York City has come to life and to explain why it matters that as well as delivering that dream, it also delivers for the local and creative community.
Well, Wildflower Studios, which officially opened for business today, began with a knock on the door.
I had been developing high throughput logistics centers for Amazon in New York City and we would get periodic inquiries from productions who wanted to shoot streaming TV there.
