The show all about inspiring people, innovative companies and fresh ideas in global business.
I'm Tom Edwards.
Paul Jacklin is the co founder of Dazarelle, a Zurich based design label he launched with his girlfriend Amanda Bianca in 2020.
It began with upcycled bags made from sun umbrellas and has since expanded to include handmade leather goods, travel accessories and home decor.
Aside from being entrepreneurs, Paul and Amanda are also medical doctors who met at med school and bonded over their shared love for the creative arts.
So how do you balance a high pressure career as a doctor with with the often challenging demands of entrepreneurship?
Well, here's Paul now with more on how the journey began.
D'Azur El the name doesn't really mean anything.
It's a little bit inspired by Cote d'azur.
The feeling, the sun, the water, and it should deliver this feeling.
We create different pieces you can use in the daily living and the ideas that we prepared produce all of it in Zurich or as close as possible to Zurich.
The bags are made out of upcycled bags from rest fabrics, from the umbrellas, sun umbrellas.
So we collect them, we work with different companies and we collect these colorful fabrics and then we combine our bags.
So it started with our bags.
They were mainly meant for the summer or the spring, but over the time we also developed products for the winter and the spring.
And the idea is that the brand will provide things for the whole year.
So it's my girlfriend Amanda and me, we met in med school and we didn't met because we were both into medicine, but we were both into creative things and we did a lot of arts.
We both work as medical doctors and in our daily life there are so many things which inspire you for new ideas and it's a really good thing.
