40 分钟Hello, I'm Emily Webb.
And today on Outlook, we're getting to the bottom of a mystery that remained unsolved for nearly half a century.
At its heart is the Canadian musician Randy Backman.
Hello, Randy.
Very nice to see you.
Hi.
I haven't actually mentioned this to my dad yet that I'm interviewing you, but he would be so excited.
He is genuinely a mega fan, so it is a real pleasure to be speaking to you.
Now, if you haven't heard Randy's name before, chances are you or your dad will know his music.
But before we take you on that nostalgia trip, you to know about the mystery that has consumed Randy's life.
The story begins on the day that Randy fell in love.
It was the late 1950s.
Randy was a teenager and a budding rock star looking for a break in his home city.
Every Saturday, we would go downtown Winnipeg.
There was two music stores, Lowe's Music and one called Winnipeg Piano.
My friend Neil Young would come.
He lived on the other side of Winnipeg.
And then one day, we saw this Gretsch guitar in the window, and it was amazing.
We would both look at this orange guitar.
We would literally go every Saturday and just stare at it.
