We are emerging from the torpor of darkest winter and it's time to hit the road.
Confect's editors have spent the last few weeks on planes, trains and automobiles, bucket lists in hand, and the year has got off to a dynamic start.
In this episode of Confect Corner, we'll convene in London to hear about who's been where and catch a new exhibition of photographer Russell Young's dreamy work.
Before heading to Athens to a mind expanding supper club, we'll meet an expert to discuss the social history of the road trip movie and hear about one writer's journey to Mongolia, where he found himself the owner of an ever expanding cashmere collection.
I'm your host, Sophie Grove, and this is Comfect Corner.
Generally, the premise of the supper club.
Resonates very well with our idea of a hub where locals and then hotel guests and travelers can mingle and make connections.
Metaphorically, one can travel to lose oneself, or the opposite, to find oneself.
And if you think of all those films, there are kind of journeys of self discovery or the coming of age type of narrative.
I am a cashmere aficionado.
My extensive portfolio encompasses socks, trousers, jackets and hats.
If I could only get my feet into some cashmere shoes, I would be able to dress head to toe in the stu.
Welcome to Confect Corner.
I'm your host, Sophie Grove in London.
For this month's episode, I'm joined here in the studio by Gillian Tobias and by Confect's deputy editor, Chiara Romella.
Hello to you both.
Hi, Sophie.
Hi.
Good to see you, Chiara.
It's such a joy to be around this table with you, particularly after we've all been on such amazing travels.
