Brandon is a historian and he has one of the largest, if not the largest collection of planchets in the world.
I spoke to a lot of different people in the process of making these Zozo episodes.
Brandon was one of those people.
I originally wanted to do a brief intro section about the history of Ouija boards before Chase's story.
But after talking to Brandon for just a few minutes, I immediately realized the origin story is very long and complicated and that this would have to be its own episode.
Brandon Hodge is very passionate about Ouija boards.
Skeptic probably wouldn't be the right word, but his interest is definitely more historical than spiritual, I would say, which is good because I think it's important to have balance when we approach topics like these.
So this is my conversation with Brandon Hodge about the history of Ouija boards.
I'm going to call this episode the Board Named Itself.
And you're listening to the Otherworld Patreon.
From my own talking board experiences.
And I have had them.
I'm not a prolific user, but I have had them.
And even as a skeptic, an open minded skeptic, it is very easy to see that allure.
It's so convincing.
You know, when you're there with trusted people and you're barely touching that planchette and it's darting around, it's spelling things out that make sense.
