This week on the Otherworld Patreon, we are diving deep into the mysterious life of Jack Parsons, an inventor, pioneer of rocket engineering, a founder of NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab, and a very dedicated occultist. Parsons was deeply involved in the occult, becoming a prominent member of Aleister Crowley's Thelema religion and engaging in various mystical and esoteric practices. Parsons' home in Pasadena became a base camp for all sorts of unusual characters and people affiliated with the occult. Jack also became friends with a specific young author who would one day become very famous... Jack Parsons' life was a fascinating blend of scientific genius and occult mysticism, making him a uniquely enigmatic figure in 20th-century history. In this episode I am joined by friend of the show Wolf Fleetwood-Ross to unravel the strange story of Jack Parsons' life. This is a 2 part series only available on Patreon. Welcome to the Otherworld Patreon.
I'm your host, Jack Wagner.
What you're hearing right now is a short preview of a special series that is coming out this week on Patreon.
If you want to hear that, you could go to patreon.com otherworld in this episode, we are beginning to tackle a topic that I've been wanting to cover for a long time.
The life of Jack Parsons.
Many of you may know who that is.
Some of you may not.
This is a man who has achieved almost mythical status because of how strange his life is.
To say his life sounds like it was pulled from the pages of a science fiction book would honestly be a massive understatement because it's actually way weirder than that.
Jack Parsons co founded the Jet Propulsion Lab, AKA JPL and the Aerojet Engineering Corporation.
He made significant contributions to the advancement of rocket science during the 1930s and the 1940s.
His work helped lay the foundation for modern space exploration.
And he's considered to be one of the key figures in the history of American rocketry.
JPL still exists today and it's run by NASA.
If you aren't familiar, you should definitely just take a second to Google it and see for yourself.
This is one of the largest and most important NASA facilities that exists.
It's in Pasadena, California, at the edge of the mountains.
And so for that reason, I've heard a lot about it, including a lot of strange rumors, rumors about Jack Parson's other life.
This was a man who was very into the occult.
In fact, supposedly a lot of the founders of JPL and their friends were really into the occult.
