A look back at the week’s news, including the retirement of Australian breaker Rachael Gunn and the US president-elect Donald Trump’s intended new cabinet. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
I can't dance.
I never could.
I guess my feet don't match.
We learned this week that unlike certain US Presidents elect we may come to presently some people will take the hint after beclowning themselves on the world stage.
Just the once we learned of the retirement of Australian breaker Rachel Gunn, who under the nom de dance Ray Gun rather stole the show at the Paris Olympics with a routine sadly difficult for an audio only medium to do proper justice, though we can provide the soundtrack if you will imagine a walrus suffering food poisoning, which was kind of what it looked like at the time.
We learned.
However, at least those of us who tuned into the weekend's NFL fixture between the Minnesota Vikings and the Jacksonville Jaguars learned and and if we're honest, it wasn't a classic that while Ray Gunn may be gone, she is not forgotten.
At least not by Viking safety Cam Bynum, who celebrated a game winning end zone interception with a familiar looking series of ungainly exertions.
And Bynum with his patented celebrations Australian breakdancing style to close it out.
Except we then learned that reports of Ray Gunn's retirement may have been greatly exaggerated.
Oh no.
Well, quite.
It's not a decision that I did come to.
This turned into a story.
So I was talking on Today FM about how I'm not going to do certain competitions anymore, which didn't seem like such a big deal because breaking is not going to be in the Olympics anyway.
But you know, I'm still going to be part of community jams or I'd like to go to community jams and still.
And still dance and still break.
Yes, it seems that where braking is concerned, she intends to preserve her connection.
Come on, jams preserve.
That was gold.
