There is a political coup in Moscow.
There was a presenter there reading this litany of stale, recognizable communist speak.
President Gorbachev has stepped down.
He's too sick to do his duties.
A new political committee is now in charge of the country.
And I realized that, yes, indeed, something absolutely horrible was happening.
That after years of liberal reform under Gorbachev, a coup was underway.
