Hello, this is Meet the Writers.
Welcome.
I'm Georgina Godwin.
My guest today is an award winning writer and one of Sweden's most respected music journalists.
He's written about every genre from punk to disco, chronicling his home country's varied and complex musical scene in publications including Expressen and Dagens Industrie.
He was also instrumental in the founding of the Swedish Music hall of fame in 2013 and was its chairman for the first three years.
Who better then to write about Sweden's best known musical export?
In part thanks to unique access to the band themselves, the book of Melancholy Undercover details both the context and the cultural impact of this superstar group, with many revelations along the way.
You can dance.
You can dance.
Having the time of your life.
Jan Gradval.
Welcome to Meet the Writers.
I am beyond thrilled to be ABBA adjacent.
Thank you.
I'm honored to be be here.
You've had an extraordinary life and you started at punk fanzine at just 16 years old.
What was your musical education?
Yeah, that's how I started.
So I did this fan scene with a friend from when we started at 16 and we were doing the fanzine for five years.
