  • You're listening to the Global Countdown, first broadcast on the briefing on the 25th of July.

  • And finally on today's briefing, it is Thursday, which is Global Countdown day here on Monocle Radio.

  • Our senior correspondent and musical curator Fernando Augusto Pacheco is here in studio for a special edition.

  • Not that every Global Countdown isn't special or anything, Faye, but we do have to look at France this week because, I mean, just in case nobody's heard, there's an Olympics around the corner.

  • There is.

  • And I think there's an opportunity to give you a snapshot of French pop.

  • And I have to say, if you are a listener of Monoco Radio, you might have noticed I'm bad with maths, but I have a feeling that 20 to 25% of all the tracks we play are from France.

  • At least, Fernando.

  • At least.

  • Right.

  • I think I'm being.

  • Yes, could be more.

  • As I said, I'm not very good at maths.

  • You've beaten the French.

  • French radio station requirements for French music.

  • Exactly.

  • We are in.

  • I mean, it's such a diverse music scene, you know.

  • And, you know, for this snapshot, by the way, I'm already telling you that of course there's some amazing artists.

  • They're not here.
