单集简介 ...

How strong is your satire? CONSUME: Two podcasts: "A Very Fatal Murder" and "This Sounds Serious." Both podcasts are a riff on the true crime podcast format. Both use satire. Listen to the first episode of each of those shows, and think about what you learn from each satirical take on true crime. https://radiopublic.com/this-sounds-serious-Wk2kMx/s1!127a3 https://radiopublic.com/a-very-fatal-murder-G2wNv0/s1!44a4f#t=2 CREATE: Choose a person you generally disagree with. Now write a 200-400 word opinion column in that person's voice. Make their argument that thing you disagree with. Every word should support what you would never support, but the tone should clearly indicate the opposite. 单集文稿 ...

  • Welcome to Start with this, a podcast featuring Night Vale creators Joseph Fink and me, Jeffrey Cranor.

  • Each episode we discuss a topic and then give you two assignments.

  • Something to consume and something to create.

  • Start with this.

  • Satire.

  • Art is hard.

  • Starting is hard.

  • If you want to start somewhere, you can start with this.

  • You can start with this.

  • Satire is a blade.

  • It's sharp and it cuts.

  • But cuts what and for what purpose?

  • So you can use a knife to stab someone.

  • You could use a crafting blade to make something useful and or beautiful.

  • You could use a scalpel for medical discovery.

  • You could use a saw to trim unneeded pieces of lumber.

  • Satire is cutting.

  • It typically hurts those at targets, either slicing them open to reveal their most disgusting parts or wounding and weakening them through verbal strife.

  • But it doesn't always have to hurt.

  • Satire can also deftly carve away the edges of monoliths to reveal the respectful sculpture underneath.
