His selection over the weekend of Kash Patel to lead the FBI fits into that mold: Patel is a MAGA enthusiast, a 2020 election denier, and a conspiracy theorist who says he’s ready to go after Trump’s political enemies! Ken Klippenstein, a national security reporter, helps us dig into how Patel could help Trump reshape the agency and its mission. And in headlines: Republicans and Democrats blasted Biden for pardoning his son Hunter, a New Yorker article details more damning allegations against Trump’s Defense Secretary pick Pete Hegseth, and the Supreme Court looks poised to side with the FDA in a case around vaping.

Let's get into it.
President elect Donald Trump's White House picks have been questionable at best.
And his selection of Cash Patel to lead the FBI over the weekend has folks asking the same old why?
Well, he's got all of the makings of a Trump nominee.
Patel is a MAGA enthusiast, a 2020 election denier, and a conspiracy theorist.
Patel worked for the National Security Council before becoming chief of staff to the acting Defense Secretary at the end of Trump's first term.
Before that, he was a public defender and DOJ prosecutor, and he was a key player in trying to discredit the FBI investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election.
In his post on Truth Social announcing Patel's nomination, Trump wrote that Patel played a pivotal role in uncovering the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax, standing as an advocate for truth, accountability, and the Constitution.
In fact, Patel was so passionate about the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax that he wrote a children's book about it called the Plot against the King, a wonderful tale that follows characters like Keeper Comey and King.
Donald Battelle also casts himself as a wizard named the distinguished discoverer.
I have written the first ever children's Russiagate book.
