Monocle Radio’s Fernando Augusto Pacheco picks 50 songs to accompany the season. This week’s Global Countdown gives you a taste of the playlist. From ‘Miami Vice’ synths to Egyptian pop, this selection of songs will make you dance. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
You're listening to the Global Countdown, first broadcast on the briefing on the 5th of December.
Our regular listeners will, of course, by now have learned to recognize that particular brief fanfare as all the cue they need to hurl their radio into the nearest available duck pond and flee for their own safety.
Because it is time for the Global Countdown with Fernando Augusto Pacheco, who is right here in the studio.
Fernando, what is the theme, the motif this week?
Once again, I'm gonna say it's a special one.
You say that every week, I know that.
And you've never been right yet.
But basically, Monaco's December January issue is out now and I've created a special winter playlist for it with 50 songs divided in five vibes, or categories, whatever you want to name it.
I like vibes.
Vibes is good.
Chogoi Vibes are these songs to be listened to while reading the December January edition of Monocle magazine, which is on a newsstand near you now.
Some of them for sure.
I mean, even some of them are quite, perhaps a little bit too up tempo.
If you are reading, maybe you're not going to be able to concentrate, but I hope you like it.
And it's quite a retro Global Countdown today, I have to say.
Are we going to play all 50 songs?
Is that what we're going to do right now?
Are we stuck in here for the next six hours?
Just one vibe and one song only, in case it's a little taste.
So one example of each vibe.
