  • Also known as the Mercosur bloc.

  • The deal, covering Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, is designed to cut tariffs and boost trade and investment.

  • If approved, it could create one of the largest trading blocks in the world, connecting more than 700 million people.

  • So that was fanfare which greeted the Brazilian President, Lula Nacio Lula da Silva, on his arrival.

  • This was a summit to finalise a long anticipated free trade deal with the European Union.

  • And Uruguay's president, Louisa Lakaya Poo, welcomed the agreement.

  • It is clear that if we put some topics on the table, we will likely have nuances and sometimes differences.
