Welcome to today's edition of the Briefing with me, Andrew Muller.
French President Emmanuel Macron has named his choice of new prime minister after an unnecessary amount of the kind of last minute uncertainty nobody really needs when trying to write radio scripts.
Shortly before going live, France's new prime minister is to be Francois Bairu, long serving mayor of PO and founder and leader of the Democratic Movement Party.
Bairu is a 73 year old centrist, widely perceived as a safe pair of hands.
But exactly that description fits his predecessor, Michel Barnier, who lasted three months.
And it seems far from certain that Bairu will beat that.
Well, joining me now in the studio is Monocle's Paris bureau chief and who knows the next prime Minister of France, Simon Bouvier.
You never know.
