And late morning on Tuesday, we got a statement on the England football website from Gareth Southgate, which began to as a proud englishman, it's been the honour of my life to play for England and to manage England.
It's meant everything to me and I've given it my all.
But it's time for a change and for a new chapter.
Sunday's final in Berlin against Spain was my final game as England manager.
Then he talks a bit about his journey with the England squad.
He thanks the squad, which he describes as full of exciting young talent.
He then thanks basically everyone at every level who helps him out at St.
George's park, the home of the England squad.
And he also thanks the fans, calling them and you the best in the world.
And just 48 hours ago, he was pitch side in Berlin talking about just how close that squad got.
