Delays, threats, new plans division.
America's politics has endured a pretty febrile 24 hours, all arguably down to the incoming President Donald Trump and his government budget czar, Elon Musk.
What had promised to be a reasonable bipartisan agreement on a spending plan for the government was kibosh by Messrs.
Trump and Musk.
Yesterday afternoon, another plan for the United States budget put forward by Mr.
Trump was rejected.
And all the while, thousands of federal workers are wondering whether they'll be earning anything from tomorrow and indeed over the Christmas period.
