Amid fears of escalation in the conflict between Israel and the Houthis in Yemen, a Houthi spokesman has told Newshour why he believe airstrikes will continue. Israel has warned the Houthis in Yemen that its action against them has only just begun. This came after a series of Israeli strikes on Yemen killed at least six people. • You're listening to NewsHour from the BBC World Service.

  • Good to have your company.

  • Israel has warned the Houthis in Yemen that its action against them has only just begun.

  • The warning came after a series of Israeli strikes on Yemen killed at least six people.

  • The head of the World Health Organization has said he was meters away from the strike on a major airport.

  • Tedros Adhalam Gabriel Yeses said he was about to board a flight in the capital Sana when the bombardment began.

  • His spokesperson, Stephanie Tremblay, read out a statement on his behalf and said, like the head of the UN, Mr.

  • Gubreyesas is now concerned about what could unfold.

  • The Secretary General remains deeply concerned about the risk of further escalation in the region and reiterates his call for all parties concerned to cease all military actions and to exercise utmost restraint.

  • He also warns that airstrikes on Red Sea ports and Sana'a airport pose grave risks to humanitarian operations at a time when millions of people are in need of life saving assistance.

  • Live to our correspondent Shaima Halil in Jerusalem.

  • Shaima, just tell us a bit more first about this strike on the airport and the other Israeli attacks.

  • Well, this is the second Israeli airstrike in the span of a week.

  • And the main focus of the Israeli military is essentially Houthi military infrastructure, energy infrastructure and main ports.

  • And if you look at what they've hit, for example, in this airstrike, first of all, the focus is the capital, Sana'a.

  • So the airport, the international airport was hit, but also the port city of Hodeida.

  • Both those locations have been hit multiple times, more than more than once, also in last week's airstrike.

  • But they've hit, they've hit two main ports, they've hit power stations and the airport.

  • And the Israeli government says there are two main aims, if you will, or they've named two aims.
