Hi there, I'm Azadeh Mushiri from the BBC World Service.
This is the Global Story.
When the US ended its 20 year war in Afghanistan and pulled its troops out in a chaotic withdrawal, the Taliban seized the country.
Once again they imposed their hardline vision of Islamic rule.
But there was hope that perhaps women and girls education would be spared.
Instead they saw that right amongst others, stripped away piece by piece.
First, classrooms were segregated by gender.
Then girls were barred from secondary schools.
Then they were barred from university.
And after all of these restrictions, only one avenue for women to be educated remained.
To become a midwife.
One of the only jobs the Taliban allowed women to perform.
But now the Taliban have taken that away too.
Today, a 20 year old young woman in Afghanistan tells her story.
For her own safety, we're not revealing her name.
Hi.
