Hello, welcome to Business Matters on the BBC World Service.
My name's Ed Butler.
Now today, as 2024 edges gingerly towards a close, we're going to be looking both back and ahead on our program at Ukraine ahead where President Joe Biden has made perhaps his last multi billion dollar grant in aid before Stepp from the White House.
We're also going to be considering the impact of tariffs ahead of the upcoming Trump presidency.
And we're hearing from what sounds like an understandably disgruntled American visitor who's just been told that the Scottish New Year's Eve's festivities, Hogmanay, on which she had been depending, have now been cancelled.
We got our torchlight tickets, we got the street party tickets.
We're still going to celebrate, but we got to find somewhere to go with a 13 year old or things are already booked so we don't know what to do.
Blimey.
How do you entertain a 13 year old child when your end of year party plans get canned with just 24 hours notice?
I'm sure many of you out there have some great ideas.
Polite ones, please, preferably remember you can contact us wherever you are on WhatsApp or send us a voice note.
The number is 443-30678.
3033.
That's 443-30678-3033.
We would love to hear from you.
Or of course you can email us at any time on world.businessbc.co.uk I bet Peter Morisi has some thoughts.
He's an economist at the University of Maryland and economist for Dow Jones Market Watch and the Washington Times.
Hi Peter.
Good evening.
