  • Rescuers are searching for survivors after a 6.8 magnitude earthquake in Shijang.

  • The quake jolted Dingre county in the southwestern Chinese region, also known as Tibet.

  • The disasters killed around 100 people and injured many others.

  • Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered rescue efforts to save lives and minimize casualties.

  • He's also urged efforts to prevent secondary disasters and properly resettle affected residents.

  • The central Authorities are offering 200 million yuan or US$27 million for relief efforts.

  • They've also sent personnel to assist with local disaster relief efforts.

  • Central Authorities have dispatched 22,000 relief items including tents, coats, quilts and folding beds.
