What is community and how is it created?
And what are some of the driving forces that unite and bring us together?
These are just some of the themes we'll be exploring over two very special episodes brought to you in collaboration with Swiss oat horology manufacturer Audemars Piguet.
Born in Le Brassie in the Valley du Jour, a region known as one of the cradles of Swiss manufacturing prowess, but treasured globally, Audemars Piguet's brand ethos is defined by this century old commitment to craft excellence, where savoir faire seamlessly blends with technical modernity.
In this first episode, we're in Zurich at the prestige prestigious AP House to discover how the world of haute horology and hospitality come together to deliver an extraordinary experience.
Located at the old cashier hall of the Le bank, the house goes beyond a traditional boutique and acts as a great convener, bringing like minded people together and hosting artistic and culinary events.
It's no wonder then that this protected building was the perfect setting for a powerful conversation on heritage, inspiration and shared passions.
I was joined on stage by Confex style director Marcella Palak, Audemars Piguet's country manager for Switzerland, David Pantillon, designer and founder of Studio da Castillo, Veronica de Castillo Caldas, and by three Michelin star chef of the Memories restaurant in Bad Regatte, Sven Vassma.
So join us as we talk about how design can bring us together, crafting, community and the power of a good meal too.
I'm your host, Sophie Grove and this is Comfort Corner.
Last year we launched the most complicated watch we ever produced, which is called the Universelle.
This took seven to eight years of research and development.
This is not possible just without the community.
So it needs that common motivation, it needs that energy of people getting together.
You expect the customers to be welcoming and intrigued to see what the brand has to offer.
Realizing as a chef, it's not always about food, it's about hospitality, it's about welcoming guests, it's about having joy of happiness.
Well, hello and a very warm welcome to this special edition of Confect Corner in association with Audemars Piquet.
And it's a real honor to be here in Zurich in AP House.
And we've got a great panel today and also just a really interesting couple of themes that we want to explore over the next half an hour or so.
And many of you will know my colleague Marcela Palak, who's style director of Confect and also is a co host today, but also has a few thoughts about the idea of craft and community and how in essence, you know, a lot of your work, Marcella, is to do with discovering brands, discovering this sense of craft and how it brings artisans together, but also the sense of shared passion.
