  • I'm Krupa Party and it's very good to have you with us.

  • We begin this hour in Los Angeles where that death toll as a result of those wildfires still burning is now at least 16 thousands have fled their homes.

  • It is a rapidly changing situation and I want to walk you through the map of where this is all taking place.

  • Now, three fires continue to burn across la with one blaze fully contained.

  • That's the Hearst fire in the north.

  • The largest blade is in the Palisades area, one of the exclusive parts of the city in the west and that borders Santa Monica and the famous Malibu coast.

  • More than 23,000 acres have now burnt there.

  • If we move eastwards northeastwards rather to the second biggest fire, that's the Eaton fire and that's in a more working class area that's covered 13 and a half thousand acres and it's devastated the area of Altadena, home to more than 40,000 people.

  • With us now live from the ground is Chief Chad Augustin, the fire chief for the city of Pasadena, which sits just south of Altadena.
