  • On January 7, 2025,

  • the City of Los Angeles declared a state of emergency in anticipation of severe winds

  • and the increased fire risk that they could pose.

  • That same day, the first of a terrifying series of wildfires ignited that would hit the Southern Californian area,

  • causing urban destruction on an unprecedented scale.

  • The Palisades and Eton fires have been the most devastating,

  • with thousands of acres affected and thousands of structures damaged or destroyed.

  • As we go to air, these two fires are still not completely extinguished.

  • So how did the city respond before, during and after these events?
