单集文稿 ...

  • Hey, everybody.

  • Welcome to another phrasal verb episode.

  • I hope you're all doing excellent, and I hope that you're ready to learn a couple phrasal verbs in English.

  • So in this episode, we're going to look at two phrasal verbs.

  • The first one is bear with, and the second one is beat up.

  • So let's start with bear with.

  • When you bear with someone, you are patient or tolerant with that person.

  • So we always use this with someone.

  • Like bear with me.

  • I had to bear with him.

  • So for example, I could say, bear with me for a minute while I find my notes.

  • So in this sentence, I'm telling you to be patient with me.

  • Wait for me patiently while I find my notes.

  • Okay?

  • It's like a nice way of saying, just hold on one second.

  • Be patient.

  • Sorry, I'm gonna do this really quick, or something like that.

  • So that's bear with me or bear with someone.

  • And the other one is beat up.

  • So this means to attack and injure someone badly by hitting or kicking them repeatedly.
