I'm Georgina Godwin.
My guest today is a renowned writer of television and film from Belgium.
He was director Lucas Dance, co writer on award winning feature films Girl and Close.
He's been a columnist for the Belgian newspaper De Standard.
And the Edges is his debut novella.
It's translated into English by Michelle Hutchison and it's a tender story of love and longing.
It's been translated into Spanish, French and German too.
And it won the jury prize at the Prix Romain Gay in France.
Such an honour to have you in the studio.
Angela Taysons, welcome to meet the writers.
Thank you so much.
It's an honour to be here.
We're very, very pleased to get you in.
Obviously you don't live here and it's wonderful to have somebody
like you of your stature in film in the studio with us.
But I want to go back to the beginning because this book, the Edges is a sort of.
It's not exactly a coming out story, but it's about a young gay man.
And you were a young gay man once?
Yes, in small town Belgium.
