Hello,
I'm Dashiani Navanaigam
and welcome to the Conversation from the BBC World Service where we bring together two women from around the world and.
And get them to share their personal stories and experiences with each other and us.
Now, I'd like you to think of a famous philosopher.
Have you got one in mind?
Maybe you're thinking of someone ancient, say Socrates,
Plato or Confucius or perhaps a bit more modern, like Descartes, Marx or Kant.
The point is, you're asked to think of a philosopher and the chances are the person who springs to mind is a man.
Well,
today we're going to challenge that by highlighting and exploring the work of female philosophers and why philosophy,
and particularly feminist philosophy, remains so relevant today.
Joining me in the studio is Julie Cavaliera from Italy, who lectures on engaged philosophy at University College London.
And joining us from Denmark is Sabrina Ebersmeyer from Germany,
who's the first ever female professor of philosophy at, at the University of Copenhagen.
Julie, Sabrina, welcome to the conversation.
