It's Wednesday, February 5th.
I'm Jane Coston, and this is what a day.
The show that liked reporting the news better when the world wasn't in total and complete chaos.
Every single day on today's show, President Trump drafts an executive order to dismantle the Department of Education.
And the proud boys are humbled by a D.C.
superior Court judge.
But let's start with Trump 2.0's foreign policy, and I'll admit I don't really know what it is.
Let's take those tariffs, for example.
As we discussed in the show earlier this week, Trump threatened tariffs against Canada, Mexico, and China.
He delayed tariffs against Canada and Mexico for at least the next 30 days,
but the tariffs against China have gone into effect.
In response, China announced Tuesday that it will place tariffs on American coal,
gas, agricultural machinery, and large engine cars.
That will start next Monday.
We're in a tariff war with China, in other words.
But I keep coming back to one thing.
Trump has been all over the place as to what he thinks tariffs mean.
Are they super awesome in how America got rich in the early 20th century,
or are they terrible and thus great negotiation tactics you don't actually want to use?
Like with Canada and Mexico, they can't be both.
