The Economist.
Hello and welcome to the Intelligence from the Economist.
I'm your host, Rosie Blore.
Every weekday we provide a fresh perspective on the events shaping your world.
Recently, the city of Goma in Eastern Congo was taken by a Rwandan backed rebel group called M23.
Our correspondent interviewed one of its leaders, Corne Nongar.
And tomorrow marks the on screen return of an iconic fictional character known
for her dodgy choice in men,
bad cooking and capacity to drink vast quantities of Chardonnay.
We take a look at the new Bridget Jones.
But first, on yesterday's show,
we brought you an interview with Ukraine's President, Volodymyr Zelensky.
In it, he said that if Ukraine wasn't part of a deal to end the war, the deal wouldn't stick.
He worried about manipulation if America was left alone with Russia, Trump with Putin.
But a lot can happen in 24 hours.
Last night, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin spoke on the phone for 90 minutes.
And I think we're on the way to getting peace.
I think President Putin wants peace and President Zelensky wants peace and I want peace.
I just want to see people stop getting killed.
So where does that leave Ukraine and Europe?
