Europe must play its role

if there is a lasting peace agreement.
Keir Starmer is trying to work out how Britain responds if a peace deal is agreed for Ukraine.
On Monday, he rushed to Paris to meet other European leaders, while thousands of miles away,
Russian and US officials were sitting down together, frozen out of those talks.
Starmer wanted to show he'd do whatever it takes to support Ukraine,
including sending British troops.
But he made it clear he'd need Trump's help.
There must be a U.S. backstop
because a U.S. security guarantee is the only way to effectively deter Russia
from attacking Ukraine again.
