  • You're listening to Monocle on Saturday, first broadcast on the 8th of March, 2025 on Monocle Radio.

  • Hello there, it's Emma Nelson coming to you live from Midori House in London.

  • Welcome to Monocle on Saturday.

  • On today's program, I'll joined in the studio.

  • I am joined in the studio by Marta Lorimer, politics lecturer at Cardiff University.

  • A very good morning to you, Marta, as a European expert, have you had a busy week?

  • No.

  • Why do you ask, Emma?

  • It's been a very relaxed week.

  • Nothing happened.

  • Excellent.

  • What have you spotted in the papers?

  • Well,

  • I think the main thing that has been on my mind

  • and on many other people's mind is how exactly is Europe going to deal with Donald Trump?

  • Cozying up to Vladimir Putin is really the nicest way to put it.

  • Thank you very much indeed for that.

  • We'll also be heading to Spain's biggest art fair, Arco Madrid.

  • And Writers Week itself is free and takes place outdoors in the Pioneer Women's Gardens,

  • a beautiful space ringed by mature trees and populated by multi hued and really quite noisy birds.
