Hello, I'm Dashiani Navanayagam and welcome to the conversation from the BBC World Service, the programme which speaks to two extraordinary women from around the world about a shared interest or expertise.
Now, before we delve into today's discussion, I wanted to ask you a question.
How often do you wear most of the clothes you own?
Maybe you have some items that you've never worn and perhaps you wonder what to do with them.
Well, it appears that more and more of us are choosing to sell and buy our pre loved clothes.
And today my guests are two women who both gave up their full time employment to set up online businesses giving used clothes a new life.
Joining us from Brazil is Ana Luisa McLaren, the co founder of NJUA, the country's largest second hand selling website, offering mainly clothes but also goods from books to electronics.
And joining me in the studio is Sarah Dean who founded the Gothrift website with her partner and two friends in 2019, recently rebranded to Loopy.
Sarah and Anna, a very warm welcome to you both.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
Sarah, let's start with you.
What's your favorite piece of second hand clothing?
Do, do you have one?
Yes, I do.
And it's been my favorite piece for I'm gonna say like the last sort of five years, which is quite impressive considering the amount of sort of secondhand clothes we have access to.
