单集简介 ...

Jesse Coburn is an investigative reporter at Streetsblog. He won the Polk Award for Local Reporting for "Ghost Tags," his series on the black market for temporary license plates. “You can imagine this having never become a problem, because it’s so weird. What a weird scam. I’m going to print and sell tens of thousands of paper license plates. But someone figured it out. And then a lot more people followed. It just exploded.” This is the second in a week-long series of conversations with winners of this year's George Polk Awards in Journalism. Learn more about your ad choices. • I was like, what?

  • Oh my goodness.

  • Thank you for that gift.

  • Why one workplace diversity expert is embracing the change and what it could mean for your job.

  • That's this week on Explain It To Me new episode Sundays, wherever you get your podcasts.

  • Hey, it's Max.

  • And we're back with the next interview in our series this week with winners of this year's George Polk Awards.

  • And today, for the first time on the long form podcast,

  • we're talking to someone from Streets Blog, which is a nonprofit publication.

  • It covers transportation in New York City, which is where I live,

  • which is part of why this is relevant to my interests.

  • The other reason is that if you have been listening to the show lately,

  • you know that I've developed a little bit of an obsession with infrastructure.

  • So you can imagine how much I enjoyed this award winning series.

  • It's called Ghost Tags that I got to talk about today with Jesse Coburn.

  • So Jesse spent seven months diving into the world of fake and fraudulent temporary license plates.
