In another part of the city, tens of thousands gathered for a rally outside Istanbul's city hall.
Meanwhile, Turkey's main opposition party, the CHP, held a presidential primary election with Mr.
Imamolu, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's strongest rival, as the only candidate.
